The Wanderers Basketball section was founded with the goal promoting the sport of basketball in South Africa. Our focus is to allow athletes to play basketball at a competitive level as well as promote basketball as a recreational activity. To this end, the basketball section open to individuals who wish to play socially as well as players who want to play competitively. In addition we endeavour to make basketball accessible to disadvantaged individuals who wish to participate in basketball outside of the university and school structures. We encourage participation by all ages, races and sexes and provide the necessary facilities, programs, training and services. The Wanderers Club have had a presence in basketball for over 10 years whereas the management and coaching staff have been involved in basketball development for over 25 years.


The Wanderers Scorpions Basketball Academy provides coaching for players aged 4 years and older. The main focus of the academy is to teach, develop and hone basketball skills. Players get more individual attention in an interactive environment. Players also get to participate in games, tournaments and leagues.


The Wanderers Basketball Section is open to casual players and players who wish to play competitively.If you wish to play competitively you are welcome to join the team. (Wanderers Scorpions). Under 18 boys. Under 10 boys and girls.

No levies or charges other than Wanderers Membership are applicable for members who play socially. Coaching fees are applicable for Juniors participating in team training sessions and games. Please contact the chairman for a breakdown of applicable coaching fees.
