To be accepted for admission, you need to tick certain criteria. For example, you must be over 18 years of age, capable of administering medication with supervision, and able and willing to participate in treatment and social gatherings. If you’re not sure, please don’t stress.

Based in Roodepoort, Johannesburg, The Bell House is private Life Skills Training Centre. We are referred to as a psychiatric step down facility, mental health facility, residential facility, psycho-social rehab, group home or community home.

The Bell House is registered with The Department of Social Development, NPO: 254-042 and NPC: 2021/57894/08.

Our main focus is to preserve the potential of our clients. We support adults who would benefit from attending our comprehensive life skills training program. Our program includes therapeutic activities, community project, workshops, activities, outings and individual and group coaching. Our aim is to create an environment where our clients can find meaning and connection.

Our clients live with burnout, trauma, stress and or mental health conditions including but not limited to: Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Mood Disorder and Schizophrenia.

The Bell House was established to provide a rehabilitative and caring environment for people who were previously left with no option but to live in a mental institution or in isolation. Many people suffering from mental health conditions no longer participate in their family structures, the work place and/or their communities.

Mental Health is diverse and often families are unable to support a loved one while they deal with their illness and as they are not trained in this field, this is understandable.

Our structured program is designed to up-skill our clients to improve their self awareness and emotional regulation. Developing life skills is the foundation for improved participation in life. Our program focuses on improving relationships and finding meaning and purpose while participating in community projects.

Clients can participate either on a part time or full time basis. Clients may stay in our accommodation for the duration of their attendance in the program.

Residents are required to participate in the daily running of the home. This includes basic household chores, meal preparation, gardening and general maintenance. As part of our time management module a weekly schedule of duties is updated and duties are allocated weekly.

Residents are required to keep their personal living areas neat and tidy and wash their own laundry and bedding. It is a prerequisite that all Residents maintain a high standard of personal hygiene.
