4worldlovers: Kendo is the art of Japanese fencing based on the ancient sword-fighting techniques of the samurai. Meaning 'way of the sword', kendo combines the physical elements of a full-contact sport with the strong martial arts values of discipline and respect. Fighters wear protective armour (bogu) and wield two-handed bamboo swords (shinai). Kendo can be safely practised by men, women and children of all ages.

Want to try kendo but don't know where to start? We run a 3-month Introduction to Kendo Beginners Couse starting every 3 months. The course is designed to help you learn the basics of kendo under the guidance of our senior instructors.

Classes are held every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Our sessions include a senior class for more advanced members, an intermediate class a beginner class and a kids class (Thursdays only).

Cardio Martial Arts/Kickboxing being taught since 2001 and officially at FFC in 2005 (making our club one of the first to do this in SA and one of most experienced in SA)
